Sarah Raubenheimer
Species Recovery Manager
Sarah leads project delivery and strategy at the FBA Species Recovery Centre.
She is working closely with FBA’s Head of Science Louise Lavictoire to grow the Freshwater Pearl Mussel recovery programme and expand conservation to other at-risk species.
A global change ecologist, Sarah holds a PhD on climate and land-use impacts on plant communities. Her experience spans research on ecosystem processes and freshwater invasive species, managing a large climate research facility in South Africa, and leading operations at the Institute for Global Change Biology at the University of Michigan. She brings a systems-focused approach to species recovery, linking ecological science with practical conservation.
