Update on Dikerogammarus villosus

Dikerogammarus villosus has now been recorded from two sites in South Wales: Cardiff Bay and Eglwys Nunydd Reservoir in Port Talbot. Its dispersed known distribution in the UK suggests that it may well have been overlooked in other lowland lakes and reservoirs, so please keep a look out for it. For details on how to identify Dikerogammarus, click. If you are able to collect and preserve specimens to have identification confirmed, please send them to the FBA, as there are two other species of Dikerogammarus that may yet turn up in this country.
