For over 70 years the Freshwater Biological Association has published scientific and general interest books designed for the researcher, professional and enthusiast. Publications are written by leading scientists and practitioners in freshwater biology, limnology and aquatic ecology and edited by the FBA, thus assuring a high level of accuracy and credibility. The FBA's range includes keys and guides to the accurate identification of individual species, genera and families of organisms, as well reference books of a more general nature.
We also publish three journals, online and in print:
Freshwater Reviews - a peer-reviewed journal, dedicated to providing comprehensive, modern reviews of topics in the freshwater sciences. Launched in 2008, it is aimed at a wide, international audience including academics, practitioners, administrators, teachers and students.
Freshwater Forum - formerly the regular members' journal, it is now an intermittent publication for conference proceedings and special thematic issues.
Inland Waters - Journal of the International Society of Limnology - a new, peer-reviewed journal, that advances our understanding of inland aquatic ecosystems and their management. Published on behalf of SIL (International Society of Limnology), manuscript submission opened in August 2010, with the first papers due to be published early in 2011.
