FreshwaterLife

FreshwaterLife is a powerful website holding a vast amount of information about fresh waters (www.freshwaterlife.org). FreshwaterLife is a FBA project which has gained the support of the Environment Agency for England and Wales, the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Pond Conservation, Syngenta and WWF-UK. The purpose of FreshwaterLife is to promote easy access to the world's information on freshwater organisms and their habitats.

Aims

The aims of FreshwaterLife are:

  1. To support the information needs of those with an interest in freshwater biology.
  2. To encourage communication and information sharing throughout the freshwater interest community.
  3. To promote an appreciation and understanding of freshwater ecosystems.
FreshwaterLife brings together information resources (books, scientific papers, websites, datasets etc.) on fresh waters to provide a high-quality, comprehensive "one-stop-shop" for freshwater information. By allowing easy access to information, FreshwaterLife will educate and promote the importance of the world's freshwaters. The project is based on the principle of collaboration, that by facilitating collaboration between individuals and organisations, everyone benefits.

Get involved

FreshwaterLife is a collaborative project and everyone can get involved! Just register with FreshwaterLife to start adding information about the world's freshwaters. Everything in FreshwaterLife from the topics to the resources listed within them are checked for scientific accuracy and relevance before being added to the site so you can be sure you are getting the right information.

To get started go to www.freshwaterlife.org and register. Once you are registered, you can start adding information (e.g. useful websites, scientific papers, relevant organisations etc.) for the benefit of all!

Not only that, you can receive an optional free, electronic monthly newsletter informing you of the latest freshwater news from around the globe. You can also sign up for emails letting you know when new information has been added to your favorite topics.
