FBA Information Services

The FBA collection of information on freshwater science, built up over 70 years, is one of the finest in the world, covering all aspects of freshwater ecology, as well as pollution, phycology, microbiology, invertebrate taxonomy and ecology, sediment and water chemistry, aquaculture and fisheries management, and hydrology.

FBA Library
The Library is a truly international collection, consisting of around 10,000 books, 2,300 journal series (150 of which are current), and 100,000 reports and reprints. We have exchange arrangements with over 500 organisations and individuals worldwide. The catalogue includes the individual chapters of books, papers from conference proceedings and relevant papers within journals.

Unpublished Collection
Part of the library is an Unpublished Collection, including the archives of scientists, data, scientific equipment, specimens and samples.

Fritsch Collection
This unique collection of illustrations of freshwater and terrestrial algae was begun almost 100 years ago by Professor F E Fritsch and is still expanding as an aid to algal identification and taxonomy.  Visit the Fritsch project website.

FreshwaterLife

Publications
The FBA's publications includes periodicals and a world-renowned series of books and taxonomic guides. Members are entitled to 25% discount on FBA publications.
