The State of Windermere: Information Note (Feb, 2022)

Long-term plan to improve water quality of Windermere

FBA is part of a coalition of partners that are developing a long term plan to improve water quality of Windermere.

Our specific role is to co-ordinate and deliver the research, evidence and modelling work package of the plan. We will deliver this work with our science partners including the UK Centre of Ecology and Hydrology and Lancaster Environment Centre (Lancaster University).

The Windermere Catchment Planning & Decision Support package

The aim of the work package is to address the known unknowns about water quality on Windermere in terms of sources and impacts. This data will be used to support decisions in the catchment about where to target interventions and investment to improve water quality and ecology of Windermere.

To support efforts to better understand the freshwater science of Windermere, FBA has produced an Information Note ‘The State of Windermere’. This explains the scientific basis and impacts of changes in water quality over time.
