Own photography

Own images may only be taken by permission and at the discretion of Library staff. Copyright legislation applies to all copyrighted material (as a general rule, copyright expires after 70 years after the death of the author of a book).

An Image Permissions Form has to be completed for all photography (even if the material is out of copyright and for your own private use only). Please ask a member of staff.

Flash may not be used to photograph any of the Library’s material.

Document Delivery Service

In order to require a scan of a paper, book chapter, or report held by the library, a request form must be filled in. Each form will pay for one photocopied paper (in line with copyright).

Request Forms cost:

bosmina £3 for FBA members

bosmina £5 for non-members

A copyright declaration will need to be signed and filled. Under the current copyright legislation, the FBA can only provide copies of documents for research for a non-commercial purpose or private study.

Images for publication

For use of reproductions from our collections in publications, for other commercial uses and / or online, an Images Permission Form must be completed.

Applications must include a statement of the purpose for which the reproductions are wanted, including details of publisher and author of any intended book, article web publication or merchandise.

The FBA reserves the right to refuse permission to publish.

Charges vary depending on the size of the image, print run and geographical range of the publication. Please contact Library staff for more detail.
